Early Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms
Every woman and every pregnancy is different, but there are some common experiences that might make you pause and wonder.¹
-
Have I missed my period?
-
I feel like throwing up.
-
My breasts feel tender.
-
I’m getting up to pee more often.
-
I feel more tired than usual.
-
Why am I feeling so moody?
If any of these sound familiar, your body may be trying to tell you something. Many women reach this point and find themselves asking, “Am I pregnant?”
It’s also possible to be pregnant even if you think you’ve had a period. Some women experience implantation bleeding,² which can look like very light spotting but is not an actual menstrual cycle.
How to Find Out if You’re Pregnant
If you’re noticing early pregnancy symptoms—or simply had unprotected sex recently—you’re not alone. The Women’s Center has supported many women who were asking the very same questions.
Pregnancy Test
The first step in confirming a pregnancy is taking a lab-grade pregnancy test, which is over 99% accurate in detecting the hormone your body produces during pregnancy.
At The Women’s Center, pregnancy testing is offered free of charge and confidentially. If you qualify, you may also be scheduled for a limited diagnostic ultrasound at your next visit to help determine how far along you are.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound does more than confirm a pregnancy. It helps determine:
-
Whether the pregnancy is viable (not miscarried)
-
Whether the pregnancy is ectopic (outside the uterus)
-
An estimated gestational age
-
An approximate date of conception
Understanding these details can be an important part of deciding what comes next.
